Philippine martial artists have triumphed in the Karate One Youth League, securing two gold medals in the U14 kumite divisions. Kathleya Ealaine Bustamante captured the U14 kumite female 47kg title after defeating Ana Jovic in a thrilling final (6-2), while Franzcis Eri Jud Abundo claimed the U14 kumite male 40kg championship with a dominant 7-0 win over Wan Azlee Khairi Bin Wan Zuraimi. Japan’s Kyoka Okamoto extended her dominance by winning the U14 kata female title 5-0 against Alexa Rae Vallesteros, while Saudi Arabia’s Moayad Alqahtani secured a 3-2 victory over Dean Caleb Montalbo. In addition to these medalists, Varvara Chumachenko, Romania’s Miruna Coman, Croatia’s Tesa Balog, Moneer Alsahmrani, Artem Krokhta, Danil Khvan, and Illia Lomaev also emerged victorious in their respective categories. The tournament concludes this week with the heads of Poreč set to compete next year. Personally, I think such competitions highlight the growing prominence of young athletes in international sports, yet there remains much room for improvement in mental toughness and technical execution. What makes this particularly fascinating is how these young champions are bridging traditional values with modern discipline, a trend that could shape future global sporting culture.
